As it turns out, I did not sell my piece at Art All Night. I'm actually kind of happy in retrospect, because I really like this piece and don't mind seeing it hang around. In fact, one of my mentors has been encouraging me to sell less and keep more, so this is a step in the right direction in that respect.Like the piece that sold at The Clay Place, this one is inspired by ancient Mexican stone sculptures.
Sometimes an artist makes a piece that is very special and it is so easy to get attached to...I've made items that I wouldn't put out on display as I didn't want to sell them, yeah not too good for business but my heart just wouldn't let me part with it. Maybe that's because, as artists, one puts a little of themselves into each thing they create and the more of ourself that goes into a piece the harder it is to let go of it? Anna
